Week 2 - Division 3 Scoreboard

OCTOBER 16, 2025 GAME 1 JOG Sports pulled off a thrilling 5-3 victory over RBC Lions, fueled by a dominant third period and a hat trick from Leon Mo. JOG Sports and RBC Lions faced off in a fast-paced matchup at MegaIce that saw momentum swings and a flurry of goals in the final frame. JOG ultimately prevailed 5-3, thanks to a dominant third period and a hat-trick performance. JOG struck first in the opening period when Leon Mo scored unassisted at 5:30. Just three minutes later, Danny Chiu doubled the lead off a feed from Tracy Wong. RBC responded at 10:00 as Antoine Devolz converted a breakaway pass from Robert Chiu, Devolz goes backhand 5-hole to open his account, cutting the deficit to 2-1. The second period was scoreless on the scoreboard but not without drama, as RBC took four penalties - including high sticking and delay of game - giving JOG multiple powerplay chances they couldn’t capitalize on, including a well setup 3 way passing play to Chiu for a one timer that was stopped by Arthur Chan and cleared as the rebound slowly rolled towards the goal line. There were also a couple breakaways for Devolz on counterattack which were thwarted by Martin Jim. As part of the big gamble by RBC, we even had a 4 on 1 by JOG only to have it stopped by Chan to keep the game in reach. The third period was where the fireworks began. Leon Mo netted his second of the night early in the period to make it 3-1. RBC clawed back at mid-period when Justin Kuok scored with help from Julian Ma, but Mo completed his hat trick less than two minutes later, assisted by Wong, restoring JOG's two-goal cushion. RBC kept fighting as Devolz scored his second at 12:20, another breakaway pass and another backhand goal, this time from Kevin Wong, but JOG sealed the win with an empty-net goal from Tracy Wong at 14:20, assisted by Mo and Nathan Chow. In net, Martin Jim (JOG) faced 16 shots and made 13 saves, while Arthur Chan (RBC) was busy with 27 shots, stopping 23. Three Stars of the Game: 1. Leon Mo (JOG Sports) - 3 goals, 1 assist 2. Tracy Wong (JOG Sports) - 1 goal, 2 assists 3. Danny Chiu (JOG Sports) - 1 goal GAME 2 CHG controlled the game from the second period onward, defeating Manulife 4-1. Stephen Levac led the way with a goal and two assists. China Hockey Group delivered a commanding performance Thursday night, defeating Manulife 4-1 in a game where they controlled play from the second period onward. After a scoreless first period, CHG broke through midway in the second when Stephen Levac scored unassisted at 12:52. Just two minutes later, Hans Sham doubled the lead, finishing a setup from Warren Ang and David Finifter to make it 2-0 heading into the third. Early in the final frame, CHG extended their advantage as Jon Mei scored in the first minute off assists from Levac and Reston Ko. The pressure from CHG continued when Jason Wong added another at 9:22, assisted by Mei and Levac, pushing the score to 4-0. Manulife avoided the shutout when Jason Yip scored at the 10-minute mark, assisted by Adrian Huen, but it was too little, too late. Goaltending was solid for CHG, with Sumi Chau stopping 13 of 14 shots. On the other end, Grant Phillips faced a barrage of 30 shots, making 27 saves (.900 SV%) to keep Manulife competitive despite the loss. Phillips left the game with 7 minutes remaining with an upper body injury after a high and hard slap shot by David Finifter from the faceoff circle and was replaced by Adrian Huen for the remainder of the game. Three Stars of the Game: 1. Stephen Levac (China Hockey Group) - 1 goal, 2 assists 2. Grant Phillips (Manulife) - 27 saves 3. Jon Mei (China Hockey Group) - 1 goal, 1 assist GAME 3 AsiaXPAT dominated VetiVa with relentless offense and airtight defense. Alvin Sham celebrates birthday with a hat trick and two assists. AsiaXPAT continued their strong form with a convincing 5-1 win over VetiVa, fueled by a dominant second period and a standout performance from their top line. AsiaXPAT opened the scoring in the first period when Nathan Kellar banged home a loose puck after a play from Justin Wong and Alvin Sham at 8:29. VetiVa responded early in the second as Sebastian Hisinger tied the game in the first minute off a feed from Josh Steinhaus, but that was the last time the game was close. AsiaXPAT took control with three unanswered goals in the second frame. Alvin Sham scored unassisted at 4:20 to regain the lead, followed by Justin Wong finishing a setup from Sham and Paul Kim at 6:56. Sham struck again with seconds remaining in the 2nd, assisted by Wong and Jerry Tian, making it 4-1 heading into the third. The third period saw AsiaXPAT seal the win just 25 seconds in, as Sham completed his hat trick with a breakaway after Justin Wong made a great pass off the boards from his own end freeing Sham. VetiVa couldn’t find an answer, despite generating chances late in the game. In net, Nicholas Sellars (AsiaXPAT) was outstanding, stopping 19 of 20. While Adrian Huen (VetiVa) played well given the numerous high danger chances VetiVa gave up, making 19 saves on 24 shots. Three Stars of the Game: 1. Alvin Sham (AsiaXPAT) - 3 goals, 2 assists 2. OCTOBER 16, 2025 GAME 1 China Hockey Group edge VetiVa in overtime thriller An exciting opening game in the 2025-26 season with China Hockey Group coming out on top with a dramatic 3-2 overtime win over VetiVa. The game featured strong goaltending, special teams action, and a clutch finish that kept fans on the edge of their seats. China Hockey Group opened the scoring late in the first period when Leo Kan (LPP) buried a shot from the high slot off a feed from Stephen Levac to make it 1-0. VetiVa had several good chances both on the power play and after, including a tipped shot that was saved by the CHG defense just before crossing the goal line! Sumi Chau also stopped a couple breakaways to keep the lead for CHG. It wasn’t until just 8 seconds left in the 2nd that VetiVa responded, as Art Tam won the face off back to Howard Chun on the point who then wired a shot post and in stick side to tie the game. 1-1 after 2 periods. The third period saw both teams trade goals. CHG regained the lead on the powerplay when Warren Ang converted a setup from Henry Tong and Leo Kan. Leo Kan had a chance to blow open the game during a breakaway, but he was stopped by Adrian Huen to keep VetiVa in the game. With a few minutes remaining, VetiVa answered back after Trace Wong (LPP) stole the puck from Kan and passed to Art Tam who roofed it past Chau knotting the game at 2-2 and sending it to overtime. However just 12 seconds into the extra frame, CHG’s Kan struck again - this time assisted by Keith Hong - as he skated in off the left wing and cut across the crease to put it by Huen to seal the win for China Hockey Group. Goaltending was solid on both ends. Sumi Chau (CHG) stopped 15 of 17 shots for a .882 save percentage, while Adrian Huen (VetiVa) turned aside 17 of 20 shots, finishing with a .850 save percentage. Three Stars of the Game: 1. Leo Kan (CHG - LPP) - 2 goals, 1 assist 2. Adrian Huen (VetiVa) - 17 saves 3. Sumi Chau (CHG) - 15 saves GAME 2 JOG Sports rally from three goals down to tie AsiaXPAT in a thrilling comeback In a game that showcased momentum swings and clutch performances, JOG Sports clawed back from a 3-0 deficit to earn a hard-fought 3-3 draw against AsiaXPAT. AsiaXPAT came out flying in the first half of the game, opening the scoring in the first period as Justin Wong finished off a setup from Alvin Sham and Nathan Kellar. They extended their lead in the second period with an unassisted goal from Rick Chu, followed by Allan Yee converting a play from Sham and Wong to make it 3-0. JOG Sports found life late in the second period when Alton Ho scored on the powerplay, assisted by Danny Chiu and Leon Mo, cutting the lead to 3-1. That momentum carried into the third, where Leon Mo scored early with help from Tracy Wong and Ho, and then Ho struck again on the powerplay - this time assisted by Mo - to tie the game at 3. AsiaXPAT struggled to regain their offensive rhythm in the third, hampered by penalties including two tripping calls against John Wade and Justin Wong. JOG Sports capitalized on the man advantage and tightened up defensively to preserve the tie. In net, Nicholas Sellars (AsiaXPAT) faced 22 shots and made 19 saves, while Martin Jim (JOG Sports) turned aside 15 of 18 shots. Three Stars of the Game: 1. Alton Ho (JOG Sports) - 2 goals, 1 assist 2. Leon Mo (JOG Sports) - 1 goal, 2 assists 3. Justin Wong (AsiaXPAT) - 1 goal, 1 assist GAME 3 Manulife cruise past RBC Lions with balanced scoring and strong goaltending Manulife put together a complete performance Thursday night, defeating RBC Lions 4-1 in a game that featured disciplined defense, timely scoring, and standout goaltending. After a scoreless first period that saw only one penalty for too many men - Manulife broke the deadlock in the second. Reto Broennimann opened the scoring with help from Bruce Hicks and Gary Lawrence, followed shortly by Lawrence himself finishing a play from Hicks and Sean Tong to make it 2-0. RBC Lions responded late in the second as Justin Kuok capitalized on a setup from Shane Weir, cutting the lead to 2-1. But Manulife quickly regained control in the third. Hicks added to the tally early in the period, assisted by Lawrence and Broennimann, and then Broennimann sealed the win with an empty-net goal from his own zone at 14:12. Manulife’s goalie Grant Phillips was solid between the pipes, stopping 14 of 15 shots for a .933 save percentage. On the other end, Arthur Chan (RBC) faced 16 shots and made 13 saves. Penalties were scattered throughout, with Manulife taking three minors and RBC one, but neither team was able to capitalize on the powerplay. Three Stars of the Game: 1. About the South China Ice Hockey League

The SCIHL was the first ever Ice Hockey league organized in Hong Kong during the 1995-1996 season by a company called Asiasports Ltd. The company was founded by a group of Ice Hockey enthusiasts led by Tom Barnes. Today, the league is organized by a committee led by Commissioner Art Tam and Deputy Commissioner Grant Phillips and is supported by the China Hockey Group. The league is fun, competitive and provides more people the opportunity to play the coolest game in Asia.
